Uber to offer credit card in partnership with Barclays

Perry Richardson

The controversial American minicab company Uber announced today their plans to offer its own credit card to the public, aided by Barclays. A source from Barclays said the card will come in later this year.

This initiative would make Uber the first minicab company to have a 'co-branded' credit card. Whilst it is typical that such cards offer points or credits toward services and products, this card is likely to focus on just free Uber credit as a reward.

Barclays are the latest of a long line of companies to partner with Uber recently. Tesco and McDonald's are namely the big two that have come under pressure from taxi drivers and lobbiests to scrap the partnership.

It remains unseen as to how taxi drivers will react to this latest news.
