City of London offer funding to tackle air-pollution

City of London are offering businesses funding for ideas to tackle air-pollution within the square mile.

Each company can claim up to £10,000, from a total of £100,000 set-aside, in a project called the "Air Quality Champions Grant Scheme".

The funding will go towards helping businesses implement their ideas to improve the air-quality in the city.

One of the ideas put forward comes from minicab firm Addison Lee. Their idea focuses on the drivers switching there hybrid vehicles from petrol to electric in highly polluted areas.

Applications are still open and it remains unclear whether any taxi trade stakeholders will put forward plans. New taxi ranks, charge points and access ideas are just some of the basic ideas that could help the taxi trade and lower pollution.
