Uber pulls Bournemouth licence application

Perry Richardson

Uber have withdrawn their application to introduce the controversial ride-hailing service in Bournemouth.

Local councillors were due to give their verdict on the licence application later this week, but the American minicab firm has decided to withdraw before the outcome became public.

Uber are already operating in surrounding regions; Southampton, Poole and Portsmouth respectively.

By withdrawing the application Uber have saved themselves from any negative publicity and can service the Bournemouth region using its drivers licensed in the surrounding areas.
