Taxify hope to return to London

Updated: Mar 29, 2025

With only 3 days of trading in London, Taxify and their shadow PHV firm City Drive Services Ltd, were told that under no circumstances must they continue to operate in the capital city.

Taxify attempts to swerve direct licensing from TFL by purchasing an already existing license from City Drive Services Ltd was deemed unacceptable and TFL were quick to shut them down. Now Taxify founder & CEO Markus Villig has had his say, and he hopes to smooth over any issues and get Taxify back operating in London.

Mr Villig told Medium "I believe London deserves better and I hope to have a successful cooperation with TfL to get Taxify back to improving the London marketplace for drivers and consumers as soon as possible".

With Uber's license renewal still seemingly undecided, it would be surprising if Taxify were able to make any ground in their application.
