Free rides by London taxi drivers during aftermath of terror attack

Sadly yet another terrorist attack hit the streets of London yesterday. A device on a tube train at Parsons Green station exploded injuring 22 people onboard.

The capital's taxi drivers have always come to the aid of those in need in such situations. Yesterday was no different.

Steve McNamara, LTDA General Secretary, with quoted in the Independent saying helping out is "what we do".

It is something that comes second nature to most London taxi drivers. This is not a case of seeking good PR as taxi drivers have helped the public it serves since the IRA attacks now decades ago.

However, one private company which has exploited terror attack situations, by surge charging at a higher rate, have suddenly changed their tune. Uber sent out a tweet stating all rides in the Parsons Green area would be refunded. It's funny how after five years in London they chose against this practice and now a fortnight before their licence renewal they turn on the charm.

TaxiPoint would like to say well done to all taxi drivers in the area that come to the aid of Londoners at Parsons Green.
