Uber rape and sexual assaults spread beyond London

As reported in The Sunday Times Uber drivers have not only been accused and charged of rape and sexual assaults in the capital city of London, they have also faced the same charges and convictions in a number of locations including Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Avon & Somerset. More than a dozen have been recorded.

The Sunday Times approached forces across Britain in relation to sexual assault and rape figures regarding Uber drivers but only 20 forces came back with any. The other 25 forces either refused to provide figures on grounds of cost or did not respond. According to the reports, eleven forces in total revealed a number of other recorded offences by Uber drivers, including violence against the person, theft, handling stolen goods and drug offences. Uber's chief executive, Dara Khosorowshahi is due to meet Transport For London on Tuesday and one would feel, with figures across Britain at an alarming rate, they would think extremely hard before even considering backing down to Uber's aggressive approach to the news that their license was not going to be renewed. Members of the Conservative party have actively lobbied for TFL and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to reconsider their decision, but with figures and worrying concerns like these, you have to wonder why.
