London Traffic Update

The Lord Mayor’s Show and Remembrance Sunday 

From 07:00 until 19:00 on Saturday, there will be extensive road closures in the City and central London for the Lord Mayor’s Show. Blackfriars and Waterloo bridges will be closed at various times. On Sunday, some roads in Westminster will be closed to traffic from just after midnight until 17:30 for Remembrance Sunday. Saturday 11 November

Taxi ranks that will be affected (suspended) are as follows:

• Aldwych (Me hotel) • Aldwych (Number One Aldwych hotel) • Aldwych (Waldorf Hilton hotel) • Aldwych (rest rank) • Strand (St. Clement Danes Church) • Strand (opposite Australia House) • Temple Place • Arundel Street • Finsbury Square • Finsbury Pavement Due to two wreath laying ceremonies at The Cenotaph, Whitehall will be closed in both directions from 08:30 until 13:30 between Parliament Square and Trafalgar Square. Sunday 12 November

• Taxis can drop off veterans in Spring Gardens and then U-turn out • Westminster Bridge westbound will be coned off to use as a pick up point for veterans • A small holding area for taxis belonging to the senior marshalls (max 4 in total) will be available in the eastbound bus lane at the Parliament side of the bridge Trafalgar Square

Due to an event there will be the following road closures in the area on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 November: • Pall Mall East between 08:00 on Saturday and 06:00 on Sunday • Charing Cross Road, Duncannon Street and the east side of Trafalgar Square between 16:00 and 23:30 on Saturday • Eastbound lane one on the south side of Trafalgar Square will be closed between 17:00 until 23:30 Central London

• From 08:00 on Saturday until 06:00 on Sunday, various closures will be in place on the following roads: Pall Mall East, Duncannon Street, St. Martin's Place, the east side of Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross Road (between Cambridge Circus and St. Martin's Place), Cockspur Street eastbound, the north side of King Charles Island and a lane drop on the south. This is for an event • From 08:00 until 15:00 on Saturday, Whitehall will be closed in both directions between Parliament Square and Trafalgar Square. This is for an event • From 13:00 until 16:00 on Saturday, there will be road closures and traffic holds on Paddington Green via Edgware Road northbound and Church Street. This is for a march Wembley

From 16:00 until 23:59 on Friday, and on Tuesday, roads around the stadium will be busier than usual, including A406, Harrow Road and Wembley High Road. This is due to an event. South West London

From 11:30 until 18:30 on Saturday, roads around Twickenham Stadium will be busier than usual including A316 Chertsey Road. Between approximately 14:30 and 18:30, there will be an eastbound lane closure on A316 Chertsey Road between Hospital Bridge Road and London Road. There will also be closures and diversions on London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road. This is due to an event. Printworks

On Saturday 10 November 2017 & Sunday 11 November 2017 there will be a marshalled taxi rank in operation. 

Access to Blackwall Tunnel bus lanes for taxis

Taxis can use the southbound Blackwall Tunnel bus lane between 9pm and 5am. Correction to previous advice: Taxis cannot use the northbound Blackwall Tunnel bus lane. A101 Rotherhithe Tunnel: overnight closures

Planned closure of the tunnel, to carry out essential investigation works and test safety systems, will occur between 22:00 and 05:00 during the following nights:

• Monday 13 November - Friday 17 November • Monday 20 November - Friday 24 November • Monday 27 November - Friday 1 December • Monday 4 December - Friday 8 December Westminster Bridge South – Carriageway resurfacing

A series of temporary overnight closures are needed to facilitate the carriageway resurfacing from Monday 13 to Tuesday 21 November between 21:00 and 05:00:

• On Monday 13 November, Lambeth Palace Road will be closed in both directions between Westminster Bridge Road and the Lambeth Bridge southern roundabout • On Wednesday 15 November, there will be no access to Westminster from Waterloo via Westminster Bridge • From Thursday 16 November to Tuesday 21 November, there will be no access to Waterloo from Westminster via Westminster Bridge. The York Road Slip Road will be closed
