Controversial minicab app Uber have today said it was to join an international public transport association in an attempt to improve mobility in cities, connect more people to public transport and patch up relationships with regulators.

The International Association of Public Transportation (UITP) is a group of public transport providers from around the world, which includes Transport for London, wo chose not to renew Uber's operating licence in September of this year.  According to Fortune, Andrew Salzberg, Uber’s head of transportation policy and research, said the company hopes to align themselves better with public transport authorities to make Uber a better partner for cities around the world.

“One of the big emphases that Dara (Khosrowshahi) has made… is that we want to be better partners for the cities we operate in,” Salzberg added.
