Newcastle Council and Northumbria Police target illegal cab drivers
Newcastle City Council's Licensing Authority has run several operations over the festive period targeting private hire and licensed drivers from outside of the area who tout for work on the street.
So far, eight drivers have been recently prosecuted, fined and ordered to cover legal expenses after being caught during test purchase operations.
The ITV followed enforcement officers who approached taxi drivers from outside of the Newcastle Authority using test purchases.
