Fuel giants Shell bid for London private hire operators licence

Anglo-Dutch oil giants Shell have thrown their hat into the transport ring by bidding for a minicab operators licence in London.

The app currently in use and owned by Shell is called FarePilot. The service has been available to private hire drivers for some time to advise users where hotspots may lurk and where they are more likely to pick up fares whilst working for other operators in the market.

However, union leaders have urged Shell to become their own operator in a move to protect workers rights.
