Taxi and private hire bill gets second reading

A private members bill surrounding taxi and private hire safeguarding and road safety has had its second reading.
The bill is a draft, sponsored by Daniel Zeichner, MP for Cambridge, as to how the public can be protected when using both taxi and private hire vehicles.
The bill itself, taxi and private hire safeguarding and public safety bill is a comprehensive draft covering many aspect of both industry's, from cross-border hiring to driver conduct, as well as how regulators communicate with each other over licensing issues.
A second reading is the first opportunity for members of the House of Lords to debate issues within a bill and to identify any amendments where needed.
