London: Weekly road and event updates

Blackfriars Road From 06:00 on Saturday 17 February until 22:00 on 18 February there will be temporary four-way traffic signals on Blackfriars Road, operating in all directions at the junction of Stamford Street. This is for a crane operation. Hammersmith Bridge To facilitate bridge survey works there will be daily closures of Hammersmith Bridge between 08:00 and 18:00 on the following dates: • Until Friday 16 February the northbound carriageway will be closed • From 08:00 on Saturday 17 until 18:00 on Sunday 18 February the bridge will be closed in both directions Waterloo Station From 20:00 on Friday 16 until 20:00 on Sunday 18 February, Station Approach Road will be closed to all vehicles. This is for a crane operation. Taxis to use Spur Road for access and egress to the taxi rank. 

Twickenham From 10:00 until 14:00 on Friday 16 February, roads in the area will be busier than usual, including A316 Chertsey Road, all roads leading to Twickenham station, and around the stadium. This is for the England Rugby team open training session. Kensington Due to the BAFTAs, there will be various road restrictions and closures in place: • From 07:00 on Thursday 15 until 18:00 on Monday 19 February, Prince Consort Road will be closed • Between 12:00 and 23:00 on Sunday 18 February, Kensington Gore (eastern side) will be closed • From 12:00 on Saturday 17 until 06:00 on Monday 19 February, Kensington Gore (western side) will be closed • There will also be local restrictions in place on Jays Mews and Bremner Road • The after show party will be taking place at the Grosvenor house Hotel, Park Street will be closed and there will be a lane closure on Park Lane which will affect the taxi ranks for Grosvenor House Hotel Parliament Square From 12:00 until 17:00 on Sunday 18 February, there may be delays along Langham Place, Regent Street, Coventry Street, Haymarket, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street and Whitehall. This is due to a march. Chinese New Year From 06:00 until 20:00 on Sunday 18 February there will be extensive road closures, implemented in stages to facilitate the event: • From 06:00, Dean Street and Duncannon Street will be closed in both directions • From 07:00, Pall Mall East will be closed (including Whitcomb Street, Suffolk Street and Suffolk Place); and the Charing Cross slip road • From 08:00, Shaftesbury Avenue will be closed in both directions between Piccadilly Circus and Charing Cross Road; Shaftesbury Avenue westbound from St Giles High Street to Charing Cross Road; Charing Cross Road in both directions between Denmark Street and St Martin’s Place; Piccadilly eastbound from Hyde Park Corner (including the eastbound Piccadilly Underpass); High Holborn west of Kingsway; and all roads within the Chinatown area • All roads will reopen by 20:00. Cockspur Street eastbound bus only section will be suspended to allow general traffic use O2 Arena • Wednesday 21 February between 18:30 and 23:00 for The Brit Awards (capacity 17,000) Excel Arena • Friday 16 until Sunday 18 February between 10:00 and 18:00 for The Classic Car Show (capacity 100,000) • Friday 16 until Sunday 18 February between 10:00 and 18:00 for MCN London Motorcycle Show (capacity 115,000) Wembley Arena • Tuesday 20 February between 20:00 and 22:30 for Kendrick Lamar (capacity 10,000)
