Hyde cabbie assaulted after carjacking

Police are hunting five people after a cabbie was carjacked, threatened with a knife and beaten with a pole.
The 60-year-old private hire driver has lost one of his teeth in the attack and been left badly shaken. The stolen vehicle then smashed into a number of parked vehicles, causing significant damage. Greater Manchester police are still investigating the incident, a police spokesman has said:
“At around 4:55am on Friday 23 February 2018, police were called to Hough Lane, Hyde, to reports that a taxi driver had been assaulted with a wooden pole and threatened with a knife before having his car stolen. The car was found abandoned on St Mary’s Road a short time later after being involved in a collision with a parked car and van.
“Anybody with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 269 of 23/02/18, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
