Uber gives up on UberPOP in Germany

Controversial minicab firm Uber has said it has given up on its appeal to have its UberPOP service reinstated in German as they look to work with drivers licensed locally to transport customers.

UberPOP relies on non-professional drivers using their own private cars, but was banned  in several countries including Germany, France, Spain and Italy.  According to Reuters an Uber spokeswoman said: “Our approach in Germany has changed a long time ago, which is why we are withdrawing the appeal. Today, we only work with licensed limousine and taxi partners,”
