New York Uber driver shot seven times by passenger for $23 in cash
A New York Uber driver was shot seven times by a male passenger who made away with $23 in cash, according to a report in the New York Post. The incident happened during the very early hours of Saturday morning around 12:45 a.m in the Bronx area. Whether you work for one of the ride-hailing apps such as Uber or Lyft, or drive a traditional taxi or private hire vehicle, this horrific incident highlights the dangers and risks taken when driving passengers alone, especially late at night. Taxi drivers and those driving in the private hire sector have always been considered an easy target for such crimes, with incidents of robbery and assault far more common than may be thought. Although it would impossible to completely eradicate such attacks, it's becoming more and more clear that cctv cameras not only externally but internally need to be fitted where laws permit. The safety of passengers should always be of most importance within the transportation industry, but let's not forget about the drivers who are easy targets for such criminals. The driver of this attack is said to be "clinging to life". The gunman is still on the loose
