London: Roads and events weekly update

Farringdon Road A new banned left turn is in place from the southbound lane on Farringdon Road to Clerkenwell Road. Drivers making this turn risk a Penalty Charge Notice. Waterloo Station Until 20:00 on Sunday 20 May, Station Approach Road will be closed to all vehicles. This is for a crane operation. Taxis should use Spur Road to access the taxi rank. Central London From 05:00 today, Thursday 17 May, until 23:59 on Tuesday 22 May, Whitehall and Parliament Street between Horse Guards Avenue and Bridge Street (Parliament Square) will be closed, due to utility works. Southwark From 22:00 on Friday 18 May until 05:00 on Monday 21 May, Blackfriars Road (all directions) at the junction of St George’s Circus will be closed, due to a crane operation. Westminster From 00:01 on Saturday 19 May until 22:00 on Sunday 27 May, on weekends only during these hours, Victoria Street (both directions) will be closed between Bressenden Place and Buckingham Gate, due to a crane operation. Westminster From 09:00 on Saturday 19 May until 18:00 on Sunday 20 May, Charing Cross Road (both directions) will be closed at the junction of Denmark Street, due to utility works. 

Royal wedding

Waterloo Station may be busier than usual with well-wishers heading to Windsor and there may be a high demand for taxis. FA Cup final From 15:00 until 21:00 on Saturday 19 May, roads around Wembley Stadium will be busier than usual, including A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road and Wembley High Road. FA Vase final From 10:00 until 20:30 on Sunday 20 May, roads around Wembley Stadium will be busier than usual, including A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road and Wembley High Road. Horse Guards Road From 15:00 until 21:00 on Sunday 20 May, Horse Guards Road (all directions) will be closed, due to a ceremonial event. Hackney Half Marathon Sunday 20 May 2018 • From 07:00 there will be extensive road closures to facilitate the event, which will start and finish on Hackney Marshes. Up to 16,000 participants are expected together with over 25,000 spectators along the route. There will be a phased road reopening starting at 10:45 with all roads expected to be open by 14:30 RHS Chelsea Flower Show Monday 21 May – Saturday 26 May 2018 • From 07:00 there will be extensive road closures to facilitate the event, which will start and finish on Hackney Marshes. Up to 16,000 participants are expected together with over 25,000 spectators along the route. There will be a phased road reopening starting at 10:45 with all roads expected to be open by 14:30 QEOP (music concert) Tuesday 22 and Friday 25 May • From 18:00 to 22:30 each day, the London Stadium will host Rolling Stones concerts. Capacity crowds of 70,000 expected. There will be local road closures and it is anticipated there will be heavier than usual traffic and pedestrian numbers in the area on both days O2 Arena • Saturday 19 May between 18:30 and 22:30 for Trevor Noah (capacity 15,000) • Saturday 26 May between 18:30 and 22:30 for Afrorepublik featuring Wizkid (capacity 15,000) Printworks On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May there will be a marshalled taxi rank in operation.
