London Uber driver spared jail after killing speeding pizza delivery man

A driver for the controversial ride-hailing app Uber has been spared jail in court this week after hitting and killing a speeding pizza delivery man.

Rakin Ahmed, 23, was driving for Uber in Maida Vale with a passenger on board when the collision took place. Mr Ahmed’s Toyota Prius hit the speeding Tops Pizza delivery bike killing Iqbal Faizurrahma.

The Old Bailey heard that Mr Faizurrahma, 24 and a father or two, was travelling well above the 30mph limit, as the Prius turned onto Shirland Road from Sutherland Avenue in Maida Vale on 1st December 2016.

Despite the collision no jail sentence was handed down.
