Uber decides to shut down its self-driving test centre in Arizona following fatal collision

Perry Richardson

Uber Technologies Inc announced on Wednesday that they will be shutting down its self-driving car tests in Arizona following the fatal collision with a pedestrian in March. Around 300 of its staff who work in the Arizona autonomous program were notified early Wednesday morning of their fate. Uber's Arizona self driving program has been on hold since the tragic incident, with all workers receiving pay, but the tech giants have decided to pull all operations completely including its self-driving trunks, according to a report in the azcentral . The shutdown is likely to take several weeks. Uber are said to be in talks with state leaders as they discuss the possibility of restarting testing in Pittsburgh and California.
