London: Roads and events update
Full Closure of Great Cumberland Place
From Monday 11 June, for a minimum of three weeks
• The closure is taking place between Bryanston Street and Seymour Street, and is required for deep level drain repair works • Going north, vehicles will be able to turn right from Great Cumberland Place into Bryanston Street and exit onto Portman Street • Going south, vehicles will have to use the diversion route via Edgware Road (south) and access via Marble Arch • The taxi rank and feeder rank at the Cumberland Hotel will be unaffected by the works, but travel disruption is likely Brewer Street
Monday 25 June - Friday 27 July
• There will be a road closure on Brewer Street, between Wardour Street and Lexington Street, for public realm works
• Brewer Street (Madam Jojo) taxi rank will be inaccessible and will be suspended for this period of time
• There will be no vehicle access during this time
Foo Fighters music concert, London Stadium, Stratford
Friday 22 and Saturday 23 June • A capacity crowd of 75,000 is expected with stadium gates opening at 15:00. The show commences at 17:00 and is planned to end at 22:30. There will likely be increased traffic and pedestrian numbers in the area Taylor Swift music concert, Wembley Stadium
Friday 22 and Saturday 23 June • Gates will open at 17:00 on both nights. Higher than usual numbers of pedestrians should be expected in the Wembley area, together with increased traffic levels before and after the concerts • Roads likely to be affected include the A406, the Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads surrounding the stadium Anti-Brexit protest, Westminster
Saturday 23 June • From 09:00, the inside lane on the south side of Parliament Square will be closed • From 10:00, Millbank between Parliament Square and Horseferry Road will be closed • From 11:00, up to 30,000 people opposed to the UK leaving the EU will form up on Pall Mall, St James’s Street and Piccadilly • At 12:00 those assembled will march to Parliament Square via Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, Whitehall and Parliament Street. Upon arrival in Parliament Square a rally will be held prior to dispersal • Closures in the Westminster area are expected to be in place until 17:00 • Road closures for the form up and along the route will be coordinated and implemented by the MPS Pro-Brexit protest, Westminster
Saturday 23 June • From 13:00, up to 5,000 supporters of the UK leaving the EU will form up in Carlisle Place • At 14:00 those assembled will march to Millbank via Vauxhall Bridge Road. Upon arrival in Millbank a rally will be held prior to dispersal • Road closures for the form up and along the route will be coordinated and implemented by the MPS St. John Ambulance Parade, The City
Saturday 23 June • From 12:40, up to 500 people will assemble in Smithfield Street • At 13:10, those assembled will proceed to St Paul's Cathedral via Snow Hill, Farringdon Street, Ludgate Circus, Ludgate Hill and St. Paul’s Churchyard into Paternoster Square • The procession will use the inside lanes and traffic will be able to pass in the outside lane where possible. Short traffic holds will be implemented as appropriate • The procession is expected to finish by 13:30 Eid celebrations, Trafalgar Square
Saturday 23 June • The Mayor of London’s Eid Festival will be held upon Trafalgar Square between 12:00 and 18:00 • This annual community event attracts over 25,000 people through the day • There are no planned road closures however, should crowd numbers require it, a lane closure will be implemented on the east side of Trafalgar Square (Morley’s Hill) in the north-bound carriageway; provision will be made to enable northbound buses to serve the bus stop at the east side of Trafalgar Square as normal • Increased numbers of pedestrians should be expected in the area, especially as the event concludes Rathayatra Festival, Hyde Park
Sunday 24 June • From 11:00, up to 3,000 people, together with three large hand-pulled chariots, will form up in South Carriage Drive, Hyde Park • At 12:00, those assembled will proceed to Trafalgar Square along the following route: Park Lane (northbound), Achilles Way, Park Lane (southbound), Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, Coventry Street, Haymarket and Pall Mall East • The procession, very slow moving, will be facilitated by a private traffic management company who will implement road closures along the route and its approaches including Park Lane (southbound), Shaftesbury Avenue westbound from Cambridge Circus, and Piccadilly Underpass • All road closures will be lifted when safe to do so and all roads are expected to re-open by 15:00
