Police appeal after woman killed in head on crash with taxi

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision in Ashby yesterday evening (Saturday 6 October). The collision was reported just before 6.25pm on Moira Road and involved a silver Ford Fusion and a grey Skoda Octavia taxi.

The driver of the Ford was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries, where she subsequently died. The driver and a passenger in the Skoda were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The Ford Fusion was travelling along Moira Road towards Ashby and the taxi was travelling in the opposite direction. Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle beforehand. Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 1761 Pete Davies on 101, quoting incident 491 of 6 October.
