Chaotic scenes at vigil for Uber driver who committed suicide

Chaotic scenes erupted at a vigil for an Uber driver who took their own life.

The New York Post reported that Sundays vigil descended into chaos after The Taxi and Limousine Commission's Meera Joshi attended the ceremony, to pay her respects after the tragic death of Uber driver, Fausto Luna.

Upon realising that the family of Faisto Luna were not present at the ceremony, Joshi then had to leave after finding a small section of the crowd turning on her, shouting amd abusing her.

Bhairavi Desai, executive director of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance union who was also at the vigil blamed a small minority of individuals who may have been at the ceremony for reasons other than paying respects to the tragic private hire driver.

58 year old Luna is the seventh taxi or private hire driver and the first Uber driver to commit suicide in under a year, following the same pattern of desperation over mounting debts.

There have been repeated calls throughout the industry to bring ride-hailing app providers under proper control.
