New York cabbie charged with hate crime after attack

A New York cabbie has been charged with a hate crime after attacking a Jewish man at a busy intersection.

Fox News reported that 37 year old Farrukh Afzal attacked Lipa Schwartz on Sunday morning.

The attack, which took place in Borough Park, Brooklyn, left 62 year old Mr Scwartz with minor injuries.

It is unclear as yet as to what provoked the assault, but it has been revealed that Afzal has previously been arrested eight times.

The charge came after the attorney's office came under pressure from the Jewish community.
