Uber offering free rides for NHS staff this Christmas
Uber have announced they will be offering two £10 vouchers to be used by NHS staff between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day this year. They say the offer is to make it easier for staff to get home to their families sooner during a difficult period to travel. As reported in the Chronicle Live, Health secretary Matt Hancock said that it’s great that Uber have agreed to the free rides for “selfless NHS staff” who give up their holidays to care for those who need it most. Over the Christmas period 97,000 nurses, 53,000 nursing assistants, 176,000 care workers, 12,000 ambulance drivers and 12,000 midwives will attend work for the NHS. Some may say this is a genuine nice gesture from the controversial ride-hailing app, others will say it’s just a clever PR spin.
