Strasbourg killer who escaped after hijacking taxi is shot dead
The suspect at the centre of the Strasbourg christmas market has been shot dead by French Police.
29 year old, Cherif Chekatt, who killed 3 people and injured 13, last Tuesday, was killed after a shoot-out with officers at around 9pm on Thursday.
Chekatt, who had 27 convictions in France, Germany and Switzerland, was one of 25,000 people who have been deemed as a security risk in France.
French Police are treating the Strasbourg attack as a terrorist incident, which left a 45 year old Thai tourist and a 52 year old local man, along with an unnamed 3rd person dead.
The attacker, despite being shot in the arm by police after the attack, had made his escape after hijacking a taxi.
Chekatt then allegedly boasted about the attack, before forcing the cabbie to drop him in another part of Strasbourg.
Three people who were injured in the attack have been released from hospital, whilst three other people are still fighting for their lives.
