Female Private Hire car passenger dies in horror smash
A passenger of a private hire vehicle has died and the driver remains in a serious condition in hospital after an early morning horror crash in Liverpool. Confirming the tragic news, police said the incident took place just after 5am on Wednesday 27, when the private hire vehicle , a Ford Mondeo, collided with a BMW. The BMW driver - a 26 year-old man - has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The suspect has been taken into police custody for questioning.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, emergency services were called at around 5.10am to the junction of the East Lancs Road (A580) and Stonebridge Lane in Croxteth after a collision between two vehicles. The driver of the private hire vehicle and the passenger were taken to hospital for assessment of what were initially described as serious injuries. The driver of the BMW was also taken to hospital for assessment of his injuries.
A police spokesperson confirmed the sad news that the crash had tragically claimed the life of the female passenger.
