Private Hire Operator says Brexit uncertainty is causing a major downturn in business for the trade

Cab driver and owner of Phil's Cars in Purbrook, Waterlooville, Phil Newbold, 63, claims to have lost two-thirds of his trade because of Brexit and has joined more than 100 small business owners across Hampshire to write to their MPs to demand a people’s vote.
Phil, who has been the owner of his cab company for 12 years, said that he has lost two-thirds of his business because there are fewer people going out already due to Brexit and has said that things are not helped by the fact that Europeans are also leaving.
He believes that the country benefits from freedom of movement and has stressed that Brexit will end that. As reported in The News Portsmouth, Phil is now calling for a people’s vote, if the government can’t sort it out, then it’s time to ask the people again.’
Phil is among thousands of UK small business owners who have written to their MPs to demand they back a people’s vote as they say Theresa May’s Brexit plan offers very little long-term certainty for companies.
