Family rescued from taxi stranded in floodwater
A family had a lucky escape after they had to be rescued when the taxi that they were travelling in became after being stranded in floodwater yesterday morning.
The Westmoreland Gazette reported that firefighters from Carlisle fire station along with colleagues from Longtown had to attend the incident, which involved the rescue of two adults and two children
They were helped from the vehicle, with the aid of firefighters using water safety rescue techniques after the taxi became stranded in Rickerby Park, Carlisle after the River Eden burst its banks.
The incident happened after heavy rain hit the region, with emergency services attending at approximately 12.30 am.
Fortunately no medical treatment was required for the family of four after they wre walked to safety by firefighters, despite their ordeal.
The incident was replicated across the north of England as adverse weather battered the country.
