Drunk London woman ordered an Uber to take her home to Surrey but ended up on route to Newcastle aft
A drunk woman who was out in London drinking with friends was left with a £300 Uber fare after forgetting to change her saved default destination within the app from Newcastle to Guildford, Surrey.
The Uber driver must of thought he hit the jackpot with the mammoth journey when he picked up Helen Dryden, 25, from London and saw that the destination was to head north to Newcastle, but the trip was cut short when Dryden woke in the back of the vehicle and realised they were at Milton Keynes.
Dryden had attended university in Newcastle and had the destination set automatically within the Uber app and had forgotten to change it when ordering a car the pick her up from Shoreditch East London. The embarrassing mishap left Miss Dryden hundreds of pounds out of pocket when she had to tell her driver to turn around and take her back.
As reported by the Daily Mail, She said that the whole day ended up costing her a whopping £400 which left her feeling embarrassed, stating that at her age she should be getting more responsible.
Dryden said that she was so drunk that she couldn't even remember what she said when she got in the vehicle but thought she had told the driver to take her to Guildford before falling straight to sleep.
She said that she thought she was taking the £80 trip back to Guildford but when awakening the driver said 'are you sure you want to go to Newcastle?' She said 'what, no! Why would I want to go to Newcastle?' And that's when it dawned on her - it was about to become a very very expensive night out.
