Merseyside police launch appeal after taxi driver assaulted and robbed
Detectives investigating an assault and robbery on a Wirral taxi driver have issued images of two men in connection with the offences.
At around 5.35am on Sunday 7 April, a taxi driver who picked up a fare from Gorsey Lane in Poulton reported that he had asked two male passengers to leave due to them behaving erratically.
The taxi driver was subsequently assaulted, sustaining minor injuries, and also had money stolen, before the men ran off on Poulton Road, in the direction of Central Park, Wallasey.
Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: "We think the two men pictured may have information to assist this investigation. If you recognise them, let us know. "This was an unprovoked assault of a taxi driver going about his business. Although his injuries were thankfully not more serious, this would have been a distressing experience, and we will act on all information to bring those responsible to justice."
