Walsall private hire driver has his licence revoked for assaulting a police officer

Michael Murphy

A private hire driver in Walsall has had his licence revoked after assaulting a police officer. Details of exactly where and how serious the assault was, are yet to be released, but council chiefs have branded the actions of the driver 'unacceptable.' The PHV driver – who has not been named – was condemned by Walsall Council on social media.

They said: “Private hire driver licence revoked for assault on police officer. Not acceptable behaviour. The vast majority of our drivers are great but we will take action when we need to.”

As more details of the incident that lead to the revocation of the driver's PHV licence are released, this article will be updated.
