CCTV appeal after taxi driver threatened with knives in Poole

Officers investigating an incident in which a taxi driver was threatened with knives by two men moments after they stole his takings are issuing CCTV images of the suspects. At 10.51am on Tuesday 26 March 2019 the victim was helping his fare – an elderly woman who uses a walking aid – out of his car at the train station end of the Falkland Square walk-through.

It is reported two men approached his taxi and the first suspect bent down by the driver’s door and took a money bag containing around £400. They then made off. Once the victim had noticed what had happened, he followed them through the Dolphin Centre and out onto Kingland Crescent and through the bus depot yard. As he continued to follow, the second suspect reportedly turned around and threatened the victim with a knife. Both suspects walked off toward the Holiday Inn on Walking Field Lane and as they approached the corner by the hotel, the first suspect attempted to punch the victim before he threatened him with a razor type blade. The victim, a local man aged in his 40s, was not physically injured. Police Constable Simon Shaw, of Dorset Police, said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim and as part of my enquiries I am now in a position to issue CCTV images of the suspect. “I would ask anyone who recognises these men to please come forward.” Image: Dorset Police
