BP confirms rollout of 150kW chargers on BP Forecourts

Tufan Erginbilgic, Chief Executive of Downstream BP, has confirmed that the rollout of 150kW Polar network chargers on BP forecourts will commence in July 2019. BP officially announced the roll out date for BP Chargemaster’s ultra-fast rapid chargers at the Powering The Charge conference today, which saw government and industry figures discussing how to boost electric vehicle numbers in the UK.

From July, 400 150kW chargers are planned to be installed and commissioned on BP Forecourts across the country, with the first 100 set to be installed at 50 sites by the end of 2019.

The rollout of 150kW ultra-fast rapid chargers will offer a great boost to the electric vehicle charging infrastructure, as well as future proof the Polar network as more and more manufacturers improve and innovative EV charging. The rollout will run alongside BP Chargemaster’s existing 50kW Ultracharge installation project, currently installing rapid chargers at convenient locations across the UK and ‘minutes from the motorway’. The project has already installed over 300 Ultracharge units at site such as Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Q-Park car parks, with more added to the Polar network every week.
