Vehicle believed to be a minicab explodes in Trafalgar Square

A vehicle exploded in Trafalgar Square yesterday believed to be a minicab.
The Metropolitan Police were made aware of a fire which had started in the vehicle in Pall Mall East, just by Trafalgar Square at around 5pm on Saturday 25 May.
The area was cordoned off as grey smoke billowed from the vehicle, one passer-by tweeted, "Went from smoking to full on in seconds."
The incident caused traffic chaos around the area, with all approach roads to the square shut down by the emergency services.
As yet there have been no reports of any injuries.
There are currently over 88,000 vehicles registered as Private Hire vehicles in London, which has prompted London Mayor Sadiq Khan to ask for powers to cap numbers in the past.
