Private hire driver smashes into London hotel after pedal mix-up

A private hire driver has had a lucky escape after crashing his vehicle into a top London hotel.

TaxiPoint has two exclusive videos of the aftermath of the incident which left the PHV firmly embedded in the front of the hotel.

According to an unnamed police officer at the scene, the driver of the Toyota Prius attempted to perform a U-turn in Rochester Row, Victoria, London, when he lost control of the vehicle after mixing up the brake and accelerator as he was performing the manoeuvre.

The driver then ploughed through a set of railings, which were surrounded by a thick concrete support, before coming to rest against the front of the hotel, with the vehicles front wheels over-hanging a trench, and the vehicle firmly grounded.

The police officer at the scene confirmed that there were no injuries involved in the incident which happened sometime before midnight on Monday, May 27.
