Five fundraising London cabbies planning to climb Kilimanjaro are made Tanzanian tourism ambassadors

Five London cabbies raising money for a war veteran charity by climbing Kilimanjaro, have been made tourism ambassadors for Tanzania. The cab drivers, known collectively as “Cabbies Do Kilimanjaro”, have pledged to shed an amazing 25 stones, climb Kilimanjaro and raise an incredible £20,000 for the Taxi Charity.

They are now only three months away from climbing Kili and have lost an amazing 141 pounds between them. This week they were guests of the Tanzanian High Commission in London and were thrilled to have been been made tourism ambassadors for Tanzania. The cabbies hope to raise funds for the Taxi Charity For Military Veterans (formerly known as the London Taxi Benevolent Association For War Disabled) which was formed in Fulham in 1948.

The charity’s aim is to help war veterans, in their homes and hospitals, throughout London and the home counties, by providing entertainment, outings and much needed specialised equipment.
