Driver of Black Taxi injured following serious head-on collision in Coventry

Michael Murphy

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious head-on collision in Coventry. A VW Polo GTI and black cab were involved in the collision in Spon End, Earlsdon, just before 6am on 30 June.

Four people, two men and two women who are aged in their 20s, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. They remain in a critical but stable condition. A 47-year-old taxi driver suffered injuries which are not life-changing. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the VW Polo in the moments before the collision. Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We need to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time but not spoken to us already. "We are trying to piece together what happened in the lead up to this collision as our enquiries continue." Anyone with information is asked to contact police via Live Chat at www.west-midlands.pnn.police.uk between 8am and midnight or call on 101 anytime. Please quote log number 659 of 30 June.
