Taxi passengers forced to pin down motorist after Bolton crash

Steve Kenton

A three vehicle crash which included a taxi ended up with the taxi passengers being forced to pin down one of the car drivers.

Emergency services attended the scene of the crash which took place at a mini roundabout in Smithills.

It was alleged that the taxi passengers, as well as other members of the public, had to pin down a male driver who attempted to flee from the scene of the crash, which happened on 21 July.

Police and the fire service were called to the crash site on Church Road at the junction with Captains Clough Road, at around 10.30pm. According to the Bolton News, it has not been determined whether any arrests have been made. Road safety concerns have been raised in the area in the past after a number of residents complained about the way people are driving along that stretch of road.
