Tower Hamlets communication team confirm that taxis to be excluded from Wapping bus gate

Tower Hamlets Communications Team have confirmed that taxis will be excluded from the Wapping bus gate.
The proposed bus gate has already been dogged by some controversy after concerns emerged that the initial consultation may have been fatally flawed.
TaxiPoint reported last March it had been discovered that there were a significant number of response options to some of the questions which were "recommended" by Tower Hamlets Council, and therefore leading the survey applicant.
The bus gate is scheduled to be operational from November 2019. It will be placed at Pier Head, which sits between Knighton Street and Sampson Street.
The bus gate will be operational between the hours of 05.30 -10.30 and 16.00-19.00 Monday to Friday.
There will be no exemptions for any vehicles except buses and cyclists. Motorcycles will be excluded, taxis will also be excluded. It is unclear whether disabled badge holders will be excluded also.
According to Love Wapping the decision to approve the proposal to situate the bus gate was taken on 31 July.
A full statement from Tower Hamlets Council is believed to be imminent.
