Armed police arrest driver of Transport for London licenced private hire vehicle during pre-planned

Dramatic footage of armed police arresting a man suspected of drug offences in Camden, North London, stormed social media on Monday 12 August.

Almost a dozen armed officers could be seen detaining the driver of a white Hyundai Ioniq vehicle as onlookers watched in shock.

The footage clearly shows a Transport for London private hire roundal in the top left corner of the vehicle's windscreen.

All vehicles licenced by TfL to operate as private hire cars in London must clearly display the roundal on the front and rear window.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest was not terrorism-related and was in fact a pre-planned operation.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said via Twitter: “Officers, including firearms officers, have this afternoon carried out a pre-planned operation in #Camden resulting in a man being arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.” The man remains in custody at a south London police station.

The Metropolitan Police said they were not prepared to comment further due to ongoing operational reasons.
