Hero drivers will be celebrated at the inaugural ‘Parliamentary Taxi and Private hire driver awards’
Who would you vote for and why?
Taxi and private hire driver heroes will be celebrated at the inaugural ‘Parliamentary Taxi and Private hire driver awards’. Organised by leading member of the Transport Committee, Daniel Zeichner MP, the awards aim to bring the industry together to celebrate its drivers and inspire passengers.
Every Member of Parliament has an opportunity to nominate one driver from their local area and applications are coming in thick and fast, including from the Chancellor Sajid Javid. The awards will celebrate taxi drivers who deserve some extra recognition – the friendliest taxi driver in town, people who have gone the extra mile to assist passengers, or organised local fundraising drives in the community.
Daniel Zeichner MP said: “I am really enjoying reading through all the entries so far. It is heart warming to hear about cabbies going the extra mile. I want to shine a spotlight on what’s great about the industry.” The deadline for nominations is Tuesday 17 September and drivers should contact their local MP to request one. The awards ceremony will take place at the House of Commons on Tuesday 15 October and will be attended by drivers, MPs, sector representatives, trade unions and sponsors.
