Fare increase proposals for taxi drivers in the Lancaster area

It's been revealed that taxi fares in the Lancaster area could go up as proposals for an increase are considered.

The increase could see 20p added to the average fare on a two mile journey.

The proposals to increase the current fare regime have been put forward to help cabbies maintain fare recompense for their work.

Trade industry representatives in the region have been supportive of the fare increase when it was proposed at a working taxi group meeting.

According to the Lancaster Guardian a report stated that given there was no fare increase last year and the previous year's increase was minimal, the proposed increase was proportional.

The proposed fare increased fare now has to be put before Lancaster City Council’s full cabinet for approval.
