Michael Murphy

A man has been ordered to pay nearly £2,500 after being found guilty of two offences of using an unlicensed vehicle as a private hire car in East Sussex.

According to a court document, first highlighted by Eastbourne Herald, William Beckett, 54, of Polegate, used a silver Ford Tourneo car as a private hire vehicle without having a current licence.

The offences took place in East Sussex between 6 October 2018 and 7 January 2019.

He was fined £1,000 for each offence and ordered to pay £476.26 in prosecution costs. Mr Beckett failed to show for his trail where the verdict was proven despite his absence.
