Sherbet London announces purchase of 125 new electric taxis worth over £7million
“We are proud to play our part in decarbonising London’s roads, and this is the next step we are taking to help cleaning London’s air”

Sherbet London is bringing into service 125 new electric black taxis, as part of the company’s contribution to driving better air quality in London. Sherbet London today announced the purchase of 125 new electric taxis from the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC). The first 50 cabs, all manufactured in the UK were delivered earlier in August, with the remaining 75 entering service in the next few months. This takes the size of Sherbet’s fleet up to 225 taxis, and is another step towards the aim of expanding its fleet to over 1,000 vehicles over the next three years.
Asher Moses (pictured below), CEO of Sherbet London, said: “At Sherbet London we are proud to play our part in decarbonising London’s roads, and this is the next step we are taking to help cleaning London’s air. We are delighted to be able to expand our amazing taxi fleet with yet more high quality electric vehicles from LEVC, and look forward to being able to put more of these on London’s streets in the coming months.”

Joerg Hofmann, CEO of London Electric Vehicle Company, said: “We are pleased that such an innovative and forward thinking company like Sherbet London have decided to partner with LEVC and add more electric taxis to their rapidly growing fleet; offering both passengers and drivers a more premium experience with features like: USB charging, 6 seats, a large panoramic roof and WIFI connectivity. We have now produced over 2,500 TX electric taxis, with 2,000 operating in London. These vehicles have prevented over 6,800 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere and saved taxi drivers nearly £4,000,000 in fuel.”
Sherbet London driver Michael said: “The new electric taxis are a delight to drive, and it’s fantastic that Sherbet London has invested to get more onto London’s roads I’m proud to be helping London’s air quality while I work, and look forward to continuing to provide a high end service for Londoners and visitors alike.”
