London Mayor set for TWENTY SIX question taxi industry interrogation at City Hall next week

The London Mayor is set for a taxi industry interrogation next week during Mayor’s Question Time. The capital’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, will face no less than TWENTY SIX questions tabled by City Hall officials.

Assembly Members from across all parties will be seeking answers on a wide range of taxi trade related questions. David Kurten AM leads the way with a total of fourteen questions tabled, ranging from fleet and driver numbers, private hire capping in numbers and ride-hailing apps. Conservative Assembly Members Keith Prince, Andrew Boff and Susan Hall all join the debate with questions surrounding the Knowledge of London, minicab safety and spending. Lib Dem’s Caroline Pidgeon and Green Party Caroline Russell also chip in with considerations and questions around the new electric taxi vehicles in London. The questions come after the London Assembly called for the Mayor to maintain the maximum taxi licence age at 15 years for currently licensed diesel taxis and bring back the Mercedes Vito taxi for first time registration. The Mayor introduced a phased reduction of the maximum age of a licensed taxi from 15 years to 12 years in December 2018.
