Red-faced private hire driver reported by police for defective tyre after presenting vehicle for yea


A private hire driver was left red faced after being caught with a defective tyre whilst PRESENTING the vehicle for examination in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh’s Road Police unit reported the driver to the Procurator Fiscal today, when the tyre showing exposed cord was noted at the Edinburgh taxi examination centre as part of its yearly checks and testing.

A photo of the defective tyre was shared on Twitter by Road Policing Scotland clearly showing the damage and visible cord. Road Policing Scotland said on Twitter: “#EdinburghRP reported the driver of a private hire vehicle to the Procurator Fiscal for driving with a defective tyre with cord/ply exposed earlier today. “The vehicle was presented at the Edinburgh taxi examination centre as part of its annual testing when the defect was noted”
