Karma hits taxi bilker in the way of a huge fine

A taxi passenger who twice dodged paying for his fare has been hit with a huge fine during a court appearance. 27-year-old Mark McPhee, of Dunfermline, faced his karma at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after running up unpaid taxi fares equating more than £150.

As reported in Dunfermline Press, McPhee admitted that on 24 March 2018, he obtained the hire of a taxi between Kinross and his home without paying nor intending to pay the fare of £70. He then repeated the offence on 19 October 2018. This time he took a taxi between Bowlplex, Fife Leisure Park, and Perth and again refused to pay the fare of £81.

Sheriff Craig McSherry fined McPhee £640 and ordered him to pay £151 compensation.
