The incident happened at around 1.30am on Saturday 28 September. The driver, a 41-year-old man, picked up his passenger in Guildford and drove him to Station Road, Aldershot where he stopped the car in a layby.

The passenger, who had already paid his fare before leaving Guildford, then demanded a refund. When the driver refused, the passenger assaulted him. The victim suffered a number of injuries to his face, hand and ribs. Substantial damage was also caused to the vehicle.
