Essex female taxi driver robbed at knifepoint by two men

A female taxi driver in Essex has been robbed at knifepoint by two men during an early morning attack. Essex Police are appealing for information following the robbery which took place in Rochford, at around 8.45am on Saturday 12 October.

Police were called to The Drive where it was reported two men had threatened a woman with a knife whilst she was waiting inside her taxi. The two men demanded money before fleeing the scene.

The men are believed to have run off down a nearby alleyway which leads through into St Marks Field. Descriptions of the alleged attackers have been released. The first man is described as white, mid 20s to early 30s, of a slim build, with bleached blond or fair hair which was poking out the sides of a hat.

He has been described as looking scruffy, unshaven. He was wearing a sports tracksuit style jacket which was dark in colour, blue jeans and a dark baseball cap. The second man has been described as being white, aged in his mid 30s, of a slim to an average build and he had very short fair hair and stubble which was greying. A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We would like to hear from anyone who noticed the incident or who saw the men running off. "Please call Southend CID on 101 quoting crime reference 42/162477/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
