Road, air and now water: UberBOAT is being piloted in Africa

Your Uber boat has arrived... if you live in Lagos, Nigeria that is. The ride-hailing giants are turning their hand to boats as they pilot a new service in the busy Nigerian capital of Lagos.

The city’s residents, home to roughly 20 million people, will now be able to book the firm’s new waterway service, UberBOAT, which is operated in partnership with the Lagos State Waterways Authority and Texas Connection Ferries.

UberBOAT will be available on weekdays only for the next 2 weeks (11 October to 25 October) between Ikorodu and Falomo at a cost of 500 naira (£1.09) per trip. The pilot will provide four trips a day between the two locations in the city, carrying a maximum of 35 passengers each trip.
