Taxi driver robbed at knifepoint while female passenger threatened by gang of youths

A Grimsby taxi driver has allegedly been robbed at knifepoint and his female passenger threatened by a group of youths near the town centre. 

Humberside Police confirmed they were called to an incident on Garden Street at around 9.45pm on 16 October, after receiving reports of a disturbance.

A group of youths, male and female, armed with weapons, including a knife, are alleged to have threatened, attacked and robbed the taxi driver while threatening his passenger. It is believed that the passenger had been walking towards the door of the vehicle, when the youths started attacking it and threatening the driver. It is alleged that the group repeatedly hit the man and threatened him with a knife as they demanded money off him. Humberside Police have said: "We were called at 10pm on Wednesday 16 October reporting a disturbance on Garden Street in Grimsby. "Reports said that a group of around eight people were making threats with a weapon towards a taxi driver and woman in the street. "No one was injured in the incident but we are appealing for witnesses and information. "Anyone who can help with our enquiries should call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 464 16/10/19."
